Waterline break slows traffic in Marietta, impacts businesses
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - 5:20 p.m. update: Mayor Schlicher says the water line is expected to be fixed around 10 p.m.
We reached out to several businesses to see if they were going to be closed or remain open, this is what we heard at the time of this update:
3:47 p.m. update: In a post from the city of Marietta, a water boil advisory has been issued for all customers on Pike Street between Wayne and Court Street, sections of Hart Street, and any areas affected by low or no water pressure due to a water main break.
The post says many restaurants/businesses in this area will be without water this evening and will need to close. If anyone has questions, they are to call 740-374-6864.
2:49 p.m. update: Marietta’s Mayor, Josh Schlicher says crews are working to turn the water off to do the repair to the water line in the middle of Pike Street.
Original story: Drivers in Marietta can expect delays while crews work to repair a line break on Pike Street.
According to Marietta’s Mayor, Josh Schlicher, there was a break in the 6-inch water line in the middle of Pike Street.
In a post by the City of Marietta, traffic has been reduced to one lane each way on the 300 block of Pike Street. This is near the Empire Buffet and Twisted Glass.
Mayor Schlicher says they are not sure of when or if the water will be turned off for repairs.
He says a boil advisory has not been issued yet.
